About Freeze Dry-licious
Freeze Dry-licious is an independently and woman-owned business. After having burnt out from my full-time job, I discovered the process of freeze drying and found it quite fascinating. It wasn't long after that until I bought by first freeze dryer, and tried my first batch of candy, being Skittles. I loved it. It was then that I realized I wanted to start my own business, so after weeks of starting a website, attempting advertising through social media, and experimenting different products, Freeze Dry-licious was born.




What Is Freeze-Drying?
Freeze-drying, or lyophilization, is a process of preserving perishable materials by removing the water content in a frozen state. This is done by first freezing the food and then reducing the surrounding pressure (to a vacuum) to force the ice now in the material to sublimate directly from ice to gas. This process helps to extend the shelf life of food, as it prevents the growth of microorganisms and degradation of the material. Freeze-dried products are lightweight, easy to store, and taste amazing. This makes them ideal for emergency food supplies, space food, and military rations, as well as a great snack. Additionally, the process retains the original shape, color, and taste of the material, making it a popular preservation method for high-quality food.
